Page at a Glance:
The term Conflict of Interest in research addresses:
When an employee has a significant financial interest in an agency or company that is providing funding for the employee’s research or other University activity.
When the research might directly and significantly affect the financial interest of an employee responsible for the conduct of a research project.
The 9510 form is required for NSF proposals.
For NSF grants, the PI must sign the 9510 form. The PI determines if any other investigators need to sign, based on whether they have independent responsibility for design, conduct or reporting the results of the sponsored project.
Please Note:
The 9510 Form - Disclosure of Financial Interests Related to Federal and Other Sponsored Projects Adopting the Federal Requirements must be completed, signed, and submitted before the NSF proposal can be mailed. Please Note: An original signature is always preferred, however faxed signatures or scanned attachments will be accepted.
This form is not needed for Supplements.
Be sure that each person covered by the COI guidelines has checked either the "Yes" or "No" box in their appropriate section, and has signed the 9510 form.
If the "Yes" box is checked, an Addendum Form is needed for that individual. The Addendum form can be submitted directly to the Conflict of Interest Office after the proposal has been mailed.
